The Cat's Out of the Bag; New Oregon Wine Label Seven of Hearts(tm) Launch and Benefit for Cat Adoption Team of Sherwood
McMinnville, OR (PRWEB) April 17, 2008 -- There's a new cat on the block as Seven of Hearts Wine (sevenofheartswine.com) launches its inaugural Pinot noir with a benefit for the Cat Adoption Team of Sherwood. Seven of Hearts, based in the Yamhill-Carlton appellation of Oregon's Willamette Valley, will release its first wine, a 2006 Dundee Hills Pinot noir, on April 27 at a reception at Honest Chocolates in Newberg. With very limited production (fewer than 200 cases), highly favorable pre-release response, and acceptance to the exclusive Portland Indie Wine Festival, this release is expected to sell out quickly.
Seven of Hearts makes small production, high quality wines following traditional methods. The winery will offer wines from select contract vineyards in the Willamette Valley and neighboring regions, as well as estate wines from its own 12-acre vineyard in the Yamhill-Carlton appellation.
The label on the bottle, which resembles a medieval-style playing card in the hearts suit, symbolizes the winemaker's passion for the traditional Burgundian style of Pinot noir. The label's center features a heraldic cat, representing Seven, the owners' cat, who was found, lost, and found again through the services of the Cat Adoption Team of Sherwood (catadoptionteam.org), the largest no-kill animal shelter in the Pacific Northwest. When the owners, Byron and Dana Dooley of McMinnville, began to plan the launch of their first wine, they saw an opportunity to thank CAT by combining the Seven of Hearts release event with a fund-raiser for the shelter.
The release party will take place on Sunday, April 27 from 1 to 4 PM at Honest Chocolates, 312 E. First Street, Newberg, Oregon. The $20 entrance fee includes a glass of Seven of Hearts 2006 Dundee Hills Pinot noir, hors d'oeuvres by At Home in Sara's Kitchen (athomeinsaraskitchen.com), custom wine-tasting chocolates by Honest Chocolates (honestchocolates.com), and live guitar music by Leroy Critcher. Watercolors by Terry Peasley (terrypeasleyart.com) and glass artwork by Tress Prefontaine (tematored.com) will be on display. 100% of the entrance fee's net proceeds, as well as a portion of sales of artwork, wine and chocolate, will benefit the Cat Adoption Team.
